Program Overview: Melbourne Business School is a leading provider of management education in the Asia-Pacific region. Our MBA program is internationally renowned, ranked Number 1 in Australia (Financial Times 2005 and 2006). The MBA curriculum is comprised of ten compulsory and ten elective subjects, making a total of twenty subjects for the degree. Full-time students have the option of completing the program in either sixteen or twenty months. Part-time students generally study the MBA over three years. The School accepts new students into the full-time MBA in January and September, and part-time students in January, May and September.

Core Units: the world of management, accounting for managers, marketing, managing people for high performance, data and decisions, managerial economics, managing processes, business strategy, financial management, economics and public policy.
Assessment Method: Subjects are normally assessed by a combination of individual assignment, group projects, contribution to class discussions, presentations and examinations. The exact composition of subject assessment varies from subject to subject.
Entry Requirements: For entry into the full-time Melbourne MBA Program candidates must have:
  • completed a three or four year undergraduate degree at a recognized tertiary institution.
  • a minimum of two years full-time post-graduation work experience. This experience need not have been at managerial level but must have been completed as at least two consecutive years of full-time employment.
  • a Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score. The School will not waive the GMAT requirement in any circumstance. For more information about the GMAT visit the GMAT website
  • a good command of English. If undergraduate study was not in English, students are required to submit an IELTS score, with a minimum requirement of 6.5 or TOEFL score with a minimum requirement of 610. In addition to ensuring that non-native English speakers can cope with the language demands of the MBA, an IELTS score is now a mandatory requirement for many candidates seeking to study in Australia on a Student Visa. The School is unable to waive this language requirement in any circumstances.
Commencement Dates: January and September for full-time and part-time students, May for part-time students only, October for EMBA only.
Completion Time Comments: Part time starts in January, May and September and is usually studied over three years part-time. The full-time program starts in January and September each year and can be completed in 16 or 20 months. Transfer available between full-time and part-time programs.
When Held: Days, evenings, and weekend, depending on study mode.
